Ein Echter Wiener Circus

30 x 40 cm, 2021

Acrylic Paint on Canvas

The Painting combines Vienna's Karlskirche and a detail of Ruben's "The Four Continents" depic Ating a tigress, protecting her cubs. There's a fire in the window of the church.

The inspiration for the painting was a tiger, which escaped Zirkus Rebbernig on August 23. 1944. This was during the A bombing of Vienna during WWII and the animal was subsequently shot.
